Our history

How NDF began

The Nkemjika Development Foundation (NDF) was founded in 2006 by Evang. Michael Obinna, in loving memory of Apostle Ruben Nkemjika Ikoku Ikpoh. What began as a personal commitment to touch lives has grown into a foundation focused on advancing equity, justice, and opportunity for underserved communities. NDF started its work by engaging directly with people: organising sensitisation campaigns, providing basic skill training, and helping individuals take small but meaningful steps toward independence. Our early efforts were modest, but our mission was clear — to uplift lives with compassion, one person at a time. Over the years, our programmes have evolved to include educational support, drug abuse prevention, emergency relief efforts, and the establishment of community initiatives like the Community Justice Centre and the Aguru Egbulam project. These initiatives reflect our growing reach, but more importantly they reflect our constant commitment to people. Today, NDF continues to serve as a bridge between potential and possibility, with a focus on transforming lives across Imo State and the Eastern region of Nigeria. We remain grounded in the belief that sustainable impact is built not through grand gestures, but through steady, intentional service. We are committed to building a future where equity is not a privilege, but a shared reality accessible to every person, every family, and every community.
